The Project
In spring 2008 Mantle Arts worked with the Leicester branch of regional law firm Howes Percival LLP, to deliver a major project for the city of Leicester entitled ‘Imagine a City...’
Six artists were commissioned to create ephemeral, site specific artworks in and around the city. Sites included Leicester Guildhall, the Central Library and a floating installation on a boat!. The aim was to create inspiring, bold, beautiful, innovative and unusual work for the city of Leicester.
The project culminated in an exhibition at the LCB Depot gallery, in the week of July 21st and a commemorative booklet.
Each artist worked with a small group of apprentice artists drawn from local Further and Higher Education courses. The artists supported their apprentices in creating their own site specific works.
